Waterlogic presents Oceansaver Accolade to Goldman Sachs

Environmental sustainability has always been important to Waterlogic. As the first company to introduce point-of-use (POU) water dispensing systems which connects directly to the existing water supply, it removes the need for environmentally unfriendly plastic bottles. This operational mindset of ‘thinking green’ resulted in the introduction of the Oceansaver Accolade.

The Oceansaver accolade recognises and rewards organisations that have made a significant contribution and commitment to the reduction of ‘single-use plastics’ which are dangerously polluting the world’s oceans and waterways.

Single-use plastics are having a huge impact on our environment, not just from manufacture requiring 17 million barrels of oil to create a million plastic bottles purchased across the world every minute, but significant amounts end up in landfill or the ocean. Disposable plastic products can take over 400 years to biodegrade creating a toxic legacy of waste polluting the world’s rivers and seas. Plastic waste including bottles and kills 1.1 million marine creatures annually.By 2050, this could mean there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans. * Removing the threat of single-use plastics on our oceans is important to Waterlogic.

One of the first companies recognised for their commitment to the reduction of single-use plastics is Goldman Sachs.

They outlined in their Environmental Policy Framework guidelines for responsible resource consumption, which has brought about the removal of single-use plastics at their campuses. Goldman Sachs are committed to removing 85% of plastic consumed by the end of 2019 and are on track to remove 100% of plastic bottles and disposables by 2025.

In addition to the removal of single-use plastics, there is a strong commitment to eliminate paper cups across the London campus at their tea points and have suggested employees to bring a reusable bottle or mug to work. These initiatives and others have ensured Goldman Sachs is on track to eliminate 38 tons of waste per year.
